Hiding on Wall Street. Living in secret in med school. And, of course, shunned from the locker room. Don’t worry, gay men! A career long off limits to you is now LGBT-friendly. You can be a super hero.

The Green Lantern is gay:

You might think those other professions are still unfriendly to openly gay men, but that just isn’t so. The message from DC Comics is clear: You can be gay–as long as you wear a mask.

  1. Edwina said: You're missing part of the message! Marvel's Northstar is scheduled to say 'I do' at the end of the month. He doesn't wear a mask. You know what he does wear? Bitchin' tight spandex. You know what Alan Scott wears, in addition to the mask? A cape. Moral of the story: No capes! Vaguely related to the above, imagine, if you will, that our baseball heroes wore uniforms that were more closely aligned with their more gay-friendly comic book counterparts. E.g., Boomer...in spandex. Yes, go there. In closing, I can't wait to see your book in print. Keep posting!
